Jets are the way to go, but on lakes you better mind the weather. I haven't had any real trouble but boat traffic and and wind affect performance. I gladly accept this in the summer, when I leave the others behind and plow through a 2" rip and fish the skinny water. My opinion is give up a little and gain more fishable warter good luck.

Guys, Thanks no Jet boat yet. I've been fishing the river out of a kayak what a blast. Archie 10K for a 91 boat is too much for me to handle. I looked at a Sea ark tunnel hull that thing is a beast and would make a great river boat. I still can fish the river with the prop boat when the level is right.
Thanks for the info and sorry for getting back so late.

i use my jet exclusively for muskies on lakes and rivers. pick you boat wisely and you'll be fine. i run a modified v with slap but my wife is not in the boat so i don't care about the bounce.
V hulls can be used with jack plates without loosing much clearance but it is not designed for a jet motor.
if interested, i have a used evinrud jet 40/28 with new impellar, impellare housing, overhauled carbureator and more - all work done at dave's sports center in doylestown.
if interested - email me at info@aafishing.info

Chris, sorry I took so long to get back to you. I'm considering several boats one is a Snyder and the other a Rockproof. I looked at a Sea Ark but did not like the layout. The 2 boats I spoke of have a protective lining on the bottom and are used a lot by the guys in the rivers in PA. If I don't get what I want for my Crestliner then I'll probably forget the jet for now. The other option is to get a smaller boat with a jet and have both boats. I think the wife would be a little upset with that.
Thanks
Mike

Mike, I am currently getting a Rockproof boat built. Myself Big D and Archie went up to Rockproof's facility to checkout boats he's working on and their progress last month. FYI, I think Snyders delay is over a year on getting a boat and Rockproof is probably 3-4 months so if your going to get one, make sure you get the process going. If you have any questions feel free to send me an e-mail, give me a call (609) 273-7756 or grab it at the meeting. These boats are expensive any way you look at it, but are worth it. I am still trying to figure out how I will fish the lakes. I am probably going to get a kicker but just not sure right away. {0}}

Just an update guys. I ordered a Snyder jetboat and yes it is a long wait. I should get it any day now. you will see me on the delaware anywhere from P'burg up to Poxono. it's silver with a center console. The boats are not as expensive as some might think and will they ever run shallow. This boat is very similar to the rockproofs.
Chris, I sold my Crestliner to a friend of yours. 'Joe the Plumber" i'm going to miss this boat it's an incredible Musky boat. Fish hawk 1750.

Congrats Muskymike. I have had my rockproof boat for 2 months and couldn't imagine being without one. Be careful of the really low water levels on the DR.... I've had to push my boat off of gravel beds 3 times so far (love that polyethelyne bottom). Good luck.
