I have a Minn Koto All Terrain bow mount 12V motor. It has an in-line fuss...30A 32V. For no apparent reason it blew while running on the 5th speed. This is the second season of heavy use with never a problem. Would anyone have any idea what could cause it to blow? And I assume that I should replace it with another 30A 32V. I'm running 2 12V batteries as parallels along with a 2 bank on board charger. Any impute or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

The mechanic at Dave's in Doylestown told me that the trolling motor should never be plugged in while charging the batteries. A number of wierd electrical problems can occur with motors that have been left plugged in. One of the worst is that the Copilot systems can actually blow out during charging, but there are other things that can happen.
My initial thought is that your wiring isn't robust enough to handle the two batteries wired in parallel. If you continue to have problems you may want to consider a battery switch rather than going parallel. You might also consider having a diagnostic done by a trained technician. The guy at Dave's is good, fast and the cost is always fair.
