I've got a question for you guys. Currently, I have a 14' Aluminum Deep V Standard fishing boat. I'm still a few years away from getting my "Dream Ride", so what I'ls like to do is start to update my boat, and try to create a "casting area". I do not have a flat floor, and would like to start there. Would it just be a matter of cutting a piece of plywood and fitting it in place in between bench seats? What about the integrity of the boat? No wise cracks please!!! Any and all suggestions welcomed.
Thanks

Speaking up updating their boat - mine is currently at Lentines getting it's annual checkup an fixes. 2 notes, 1 I may be interested in selling my Minn Kota maxim (24v / 80# thrust foot pedal with universal sonar, 42" shaft) - retails for ~ $1,100. It's been garage kept with the boat, has maybe 25 hours of usage, is 1.5 years old and runs nice. Would sell it for a nice discount (say 50%ish of retail). Second note, just bot another rockproof boat foot to replace the first one I got on my mercury. I would be interested in selling / trading my first one (paid $400 for the new foot but based on the damage to the first one would probably sell / trade value of $100ish. It's pretty beaten up (ask Dieter & Greg as they've witnessed both crashes) but is still many time safer / stronger then cruising around with an aluminum cast foot. Anyone interested, send me a message and we can discuss further. J <<<<><<<
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Chad,
Oh man, don't tempt me! You sure your name's not 666? I'm not quite there financially yet, but pretty soon.
How are you doing with the sale of your boat? Have you ever heard of this web site, Boats.com ? Pretty comprehensive site with loads of boats, both new and used. Maybe you might want to check it out.
http://www.boats.com Good luck with selling your boat, I wish I too was buying your boat....soon....
I'm sure once spring hits, you won't have any trouble selling your boat

George,
I have heard of boats.com...it's a nice site. I may give that a shot. I think I may start up an auction on eBay first. I have it up at Bowers marine for the winter...maybe when the weather breaks I'll bring it home and that why people can come see it if they want.
Regarding your casting deck...I had a friend that did that once. I can't lend you any advice on it but I know it came out nice! Good luck!

George,
In your case, I probably wouldn't drill holes in the side of the boat. With a fiberglass boat, you can always re-glass it. With an aluminum hull, when the hull flexes, cracks start running from the holes, just as they would in a glass windshield. A better way to go would be to build your floor and then have a welder put in about 6 or 8 angle brackets to bolt your floor to. The welding would probably cost about $100. (at Foster's). You'd end up with a stronger boat and no chance of leakage.
