Sorry I didnt have this for the meeting last night. I just flew back from Atlanta yesterday and hadnt checked my personal email.
Muskies, Inc. Region 3 Chapter Presidents & Representatives,
October 1st EC Telecom Report:
* The Executive Committee (EC) discussed a propose change to the
Bylaws to better clarify who has a vote at the Regional Meetings and allow
the appointment of a temporary Chapter Representative (CR) by the Chapter
President if the elected CR is unable to attend the meeting. It also allows
a CR to be an RR, but limits their total voting power to just one vote. More
details of this Bylaw amendment will be available on the M.I. website soon.
* The Finance Committee reported that the current available cash by
the organization is at a low point and they will not be making any more
payments until cash flow resumes. This was described as a fairly normal
event that happens around the end of summer and cash flow picks up again in
the fall. The finance committee will be discussing potential ideas to
resolve this annual cash flow pinch to try to prevent it in future years.
* The VP of Internal Affairs reiterated the need for good
communications both from the EC to the Chapters and also from the Chapters
back up to the EC. The Regional Representatives should be helping out to
ensure a good line of communications.
* A new Chapter is on the cusp of being formed in the Minocqua, WI
area, which would likely be Chapter number 70.
* The M.I. Youth Muskie Hunt led by Kevin Bushnick in conjunction
with the Youth Conservation Alliance (YCA) was held last week and it was
considered to be the most successful youth fishing event ever. 50 kids ages
6-16 from WI, IL & MN fished at Moose Lake in Hayward Wisconsin; over 50
Muskies were caught...56 to be exact - same as last year coincidentally. A
link to press release that is copied at the MI Youth Zone page of our new
website is here: muskiesinc.org/indy_files/youth.html
Region 3 Action Items & Member Drop List:
* In preparation for the upcoming Fall Regional Meeting, we still
need to identify at least two candidates for Regional Representative
positions. If you or someone you know would like to make a difference and
positively impact the organization, please consider nominating them as a
candidate.
* Membership lapses continue to be a problem for the organization.
Attached is the list of member lapses that will occur within the next 30
days as well as a list of people who have dropped their memberships in the
last 90 days. Please have someone from your Chapter contact these
individuals to remind them to renew or at least understand why they chose
not to renew their membership. (NOTE: Chapter 52 has a lot of names on this
list this month for whatever reason)
Region 3 News & Upcoming Events:
* Please remember to begin planning for the Region 3 Fall Meeting,
which will be held at the Comfort Inn Hall of Fame, Canton, OH starting at
9:00am on Saturday, October 20th. Details and the agenda were previously
sent out. Please contact Tad Martinez if you are interested in fishing with
a Chapter 19 member on the next day (Sunday). Also, remember that in order
to make this meeting most effective, there are 5 short 'homework' questions
that your Chapter has been asked to complete in advance of the meeting
(email preferred). They are:
1. Does your Chapter have any potential candidates for the two Regional
Representative positions?
2. What is your Chapter's primary purpose? (fishing club,
conservationist organization, both, or any other)?
3. What are the top 3 goals of your Chapter for 2013 and the rest of
the decade?
4. What are the top 3 achievements in your Chapter's recent history?
5. If you had 30 seconds to explain to a fellow fisherman why they
should join MI, what would you say to them?
Regards,
Joel Johnson
MI Region 3 Representative
