We had 16 diehards who braved the wind , waves and cold front conditions. Damien and myself had Belmont to ourselves and the muskies were not there either. I believe the rest of the boats were on Prompton so I guess the muskies stayed at Lower woods. No muskies caught or seen.
It was still a good time at the picinic with good friends, food and drink and the easy set up was nice . Thanks to Damien ,Ed ( AKA pikerel pete) for the leg work. And everybody who came out went home with a lure of there choice for there next trip out. Musky Matt L

Actually Barry and I fished Lower Woods. Bob Jones and his father started there, then headed to Prompton. We were on the water at 5:30AM. Pretty much had the lake to ourselves. About 15 minutes after we started I hooked a pickerel (the correct spelling of this magnificent fish! ;D) but lost it. After that it was 8 hours of rough water, high winds, overcast skies and cold temps! The air temp started at 47 degrees and was 54 when we left. The water temp was 63 degrees! I really wish we would have had better weather for this event. But the food and drink at the Red Schoolhouse was really good. It was great to see everyone in such good spirits at the end of a hard day on the water! I want to thank and congratulate everyone who turned out!
I should add Barry and I, and Tom (TGKfish) were on Belmont Friday evening. A thunderstorm had Tom leave, but Barry and I spent 4 hours fishing in driving rain, high winds and rough water. That storm broke to light winds and overcast. I caught 2 pickerel (of course!) and then it started to pour. Barry and I finally left! We got back to my place for a dinner of lasagna, salad, garlic bread and wine and beer! Then crawled into bed for a few minutes before we loaded back up and headed to Lower Woods!

[&]]A big thank you to Eric, who set up the base camp at Prompton. His MFC (Mobile Fishing Camp) made for a comfortable, if somewhat cozy, lodging for Dan, Eric, Joe T. and Nicholas, Tom Long and Tommy and myself. Seeing his camper, surrounded by vehicles of all types was something to behold. Dinner (at 11PM) was freshly grilled burgers, hotdogs and fried chicken.
We woke after about 4 hours of sleep to windy and cold conditions, and watched as the troops rolled in. At about 7AM someone decided that hanging out and eating Eric's freshly made egg, cheese and Porkroll bagels wasn't what we'd traveled all the way to northern Canada for, so we started getting the boats in the water. Joe and I cast all morning to promising looking structure before breaking for lunch, while Tom Long and the boys relaxed in the MFC. In the afternoon we joined the boats that were still on the lake in trolling.
Luckily, no one broke with tradition and actually caught a Muskie. We wouldn't want that to happen during one of our tournaments...

Hey,
Just wanted to post and say thanks to Ed and Damian for the work they did setting up the tourney. Could have been better weather, better fishing results, but it couldn't have been done with a better bunch of guys.
I also wanted to thank both Eric and Matt for stopping on 81 to check to make sure Scott and I were alright. Fortunately the spare had air in it and the barings in the hub weren't shot. What a miserable ending to the day.

I want to thank all involved for a fun (and exciting tournament). I had planned to spend the weekend fishing Belmont on Fri, Sat and Sunday while staying at a local camping establishment. It was cold, rainy and nasty.
I caught a monster pickerel at Belmont on Friday (OK ..my plug was bigger then it but it was a big plug). On Friday night I think my tent would have blown away if I were not in it. On Saturday I decided Prompton was the place ..... I rocked and rolled all day (OK ..until 10:30) but didn't smell a fish (except for the one Tommy was carrying on a stick). My hat is off (well it blew off anyway) to all those who fought the wind all day.
I went back to my campsite or lack there of-- to pack up. Fortunately people staying in campers one by one brought back pieces of my tent, canopy and other paraphernalia.
Then to a gourmet meal dinner at the Red Schoolhouse.
Would I do it again if I had only known? ---- you bet. Great guys and a lot of fun. Nice job to all who set this up and Pickerel Pete for the recommendation.
and best of all ---we still can hope that maybe we will catch a musky next year :>(
