Penn-Jersey MI 50 welcomes you to join us for our 4th Annual Catch and Release Muskie Tournament! Our club release contest has been focus of our attention lately but winning this event could have give you the bragging rights for years to come! We encourage everyone to participate in this event for some fishing and good eats!
The registration includes entry into the event, BBQ and a lure raffle. The Calcutta is optional and is 100% payout to the person with the most points (1 point per inch, min 30"). If no fish are caught, the Calcutta will not be refunded rather it will be donated to MI 50 Penn Jersey.
Action Item: I would like to get a preliminary head count for this event. Please reply to this post, send a PM or email theesfeld@gmail.com with the following information:
1. Do you plan on attending the tournament?
2. Do you have a fishing partner?
3. Do you have a boat that can be used for this tournament (Beltzville is unlimited Horsepower)?
4. Do you prefer to fish alone?
You will need to pre-register for this tournament. At our next meeting, I will have registration packets that I will be handing out. I would like to collect all of the registration forms and fees during our May meeting. I will send all the forms to Seb so he can post them online. These forms will have my mailing address so you can register through the mail. The Calcutta will be cash only so contact me offline to make those arrangements.
2007 Tournament Rules
1. Registration forms, registration fees and Calcutta’s need to be in the Tournament Directors (Chad Theesfeld) hands by Wednesday May 2nd 2007 (at out meeting or mail).
2. Boats must launch from the Pine Run Ramp.
3. Fishing will begin at 6am (shot gun start) and the tournament will end at 2:00pm. The BBQ will begin at 2:00pm at Pavilion #4.
4. This is a catch and release tournament, any fish that are kept will be disqualified.
5. The fish must be photographed prior to releasing the fish.
6. Fish must reported to the Tournament Director (215.407.8942) after the fish is released. (Angler, Fish Length, Time)
7. Fish reported after 2 pm will not be counted!
8. The overall winner of the tournament will be the angler with the largest Muskie that was released (no cash prize).
9. We will be following Muskies Inc. International Rules so the minimum length for a muskie to count is 30 inches.
10. In the event of a tie for the overall tournament title, the angler who caught the fish first will take the title (bragging rights).
11. This is not a buddy tournament so anglers may fish alone if desired. We will make every effort to make sure everyone who wants a partner will be paired up.
12. Beltzville is an unlimited horsepower lake so all boats are welcome. Shore fishing is permitted but again we can pair you up with someone that has an open spot on their boat.
13. This is a State Park, therefore alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
14. Be safe and have fun!
15. Artificial lures only during the tournament,No Live Bait may be used or possesed!

2. Someone catching the biggest fish or most fish for that matter but didn’t enter the Calcutta, will NOT win a cash prize.
3. If you wish to participate in the Calcutta, we will be using a points system. 1 inch = 1 point for every qualifying muskie you catch.
4. We will be following Muskies Inc. International Rules so the minimum qualifying length for a muskie to count is 30 inches.
5. This is a catch and release tournament, any fish that are kept will be disqualified.
6. The fish must be photographed prior to releasing the fish.
7. Fish must reported to the Tournament Director (215.407.8942) after the fish is released. (Angler, Fish Length, Time)
8. Fish reported after 2 pm will not be counted!
9. In the event of a tie for the Calcutta, the money will be split evenly.
10. In the event we go 0-4 and no qualifying fish are caught by an angler who entered the Calcutta, the money donated back to the club (MI50).
11. In the event both members of a team signed up for the Calcutta, you may elect to share the prize if one of you catches the fish. This increases your chances of winning but of course it would be a lesser amount.
12. Artificial lures only during the tournament,No Live Bait may be used or possesed!
Look forward to seeing you there!

Chad,
A couple questions,
I haven't fished Beltzville in a few years and years ago an out of state boat required a state park permit, Is it still required that an out of state boat obtain a park permit to fish Beltzville and if so how much is the permit? and where can I get one?
Thanks, Jeff
Just remember...if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.

Thanks to everyone who have responded so far and tentatively indicated whether or not you plan to attend the tournament. I have been keeping a roster so I will be able to pair those without boats to those that do and need a partner. If you haven’t posted to let me know, please do so.
We’ve had a few updates since I originally posted and I will see if Seb can edit my post with these details later today. First and foremost, the BBQ! George contacted me last night with a place that does catered BBQ. I worked through the details this morning and ended up booking them for our event. They were a tad on the pricey side but I think everyone will be happy! This allows us to eat and not have to worry about food preparations. Typically this company doesn’t do small groups like this but they’re fellow sportsman and the idea for them to hang out with us near a lake, they made an exception! Thanks for the lead George!
I spoke with Matt today and we felt we should raise the registration fee from $25 to $30. The reason for this is that we don’t want to pull any money out of the club to cover expenses for this tournament. Even at $30 we stand not to make anything from this tournament depending on the number of participants. I hope everyone understands but I think it will be worth eating some ribs and pulled pork plus everyone will walk away with a new lure!
The Calcutta is completely separate from this event so that fee won’t increase and by the way, the Calcutta winner isn’t getting a reel! It’s a cash prize winner takes all no second, third, etc.
Kevin Treat (optiangler) contacted me the other day and has graciously donated a pair of sunglasses to the winner of the tournament. Kevin is from Metropolitan Optical and will also have a catalog at our event if we wish to order a pair of sunglasses at discount! He carries Costa Del Mar, Oakley, Solar Bat, and Fitovers Sunglasses. If we don’t have a winner of the tournament, we’ll be raffling the glasses off for $5 a ticket. Thanks again Kevin!

Take my name off the list! I'm going to be in Nashville, TN that weekend!!! I've already sent George an email. This is killing my more time on the water this year plan! Sorry about having to bail out! This is for something that has been in planning for quite some time. A military reunion. Unless things change in the next couple of weeks, and then I'll let you know. This sucks!

If you haven't already given me a tentative yes or no on the tournament, please do so. Also let me know if you need a partner. I have my roster to up to date. In addition, I will have all of the registration forms at the meeting this week. You’re welcome to sign up Wednesday or at least take the forms, complete them and drop them in the mail or bring them to the May meeting.
For those who can't make the meeting this week, I'll be emailing the forms to Seb so he can post them online. Thanks guys!

On the same note, if someone cant find a boat they are welcome to hop on or even borrow it if i'm on another.( it has minkota and electronics)
