Where Marsh Creek Lake
When May 31st 2008 No formal start time, fishing can start whenever you want and will end at 2:30pm.
3:00pm the BBQ will be delivered to the picnic table area
Cost $30 per person for registration / $10 per person for a Calcutta (optional)

Penn-Jersey MI 50 welcomes you to join us for our 5th Annual Catch and Release Muskie Tournament! Winning this event could give you the bragging rights for years to come and with that the title of King or Queen of the Marsh! We encourage everyone to participate in this event for some fishing and good eats!

The registration includes entry into the event, BBQ afterwards and a raffle ticket for 1 of the 5 door prizes being offered. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of the tournament!

You will need to pre-register for this event. At our next meeting, May 7th at the Lambertville Boat House, I will have registration packets that I will be handing out. I would like to collect all of the registration forms and fees during our May 7th meeting. The forms will have my mailing address printed on the top so you can register through the mail if you can’t make the meeting. The Registration Fee can be paid in cash at the meeting or a check that is made out to Penn Jersey MI50.

All mail-in applications need to be in my hands by May 16th so I have a final headcount for the food.

You will need to download and complete two forms from our site. http://mi50.com/library.htm They include the 2008 Spring Liability Release which needs to be filled out and signed and the 2008 Spring Registration Form which needs to be filled out and signed.

The Calcutta is optional and is 100% payout to the person with the most points (1 point per inch, min 30"). If no fish are caught, the Calcutta will not be refunded rather it will be donated to MI 50 Penn Jersey to support our local fisheries. The Calcutta fee needs to be paid in cash to the tournament director.

Rules for this tournament are also found at http://mi50.com/library.htm

I’m looking forward to another fun event and another great turnout. Also, please feel free to contact me if you need a partner and I will do my best to pair everyone up. Thanks!

Chad

Hey guys, have awesome news to share regarding out first place prize for the tournament. Matt called me last night to inform me that LAX will generously be donating a reproduction mount for the largest muskie released during the tournament! This is an extremely generous offer!

Those of you looking for a reproduction mount that you've been putting off, please make it a LAX and show this sponsor our appreciation. Archie won it last year and for those of you that saw the mount at the Sportsman Show, the quality is amazing.

I've got the date reserved on the calendar. I can either partner up with somebody or bring my boat and take someone with me. And if you've been reading the reports, I've been moving some fish. I don't care if they are small. I've got the secret for this year figured out already! Fish chant and Ducktail bucktails! So try to keep up! I must say I'm not looking forward to driving down there that morning. That'll be an early start but it will be well worth the repro and bragging rights!!! You heard it hear first!!! I'm getting bolder as I near retirement!!! 253 days!!! Yeah baby!!!

Fish On NE connection, and maybe you ought to get an early start...You're Gonna Need All the help you can get... Pickerel don't count in a "Musky Tourny".....

Just put my checks in the mail for the tourney on the 31st. I have an open spot on my boat if any is interested and doesn't mind fishing with a muskie novice. 18ft Tracker ProTeam 175twx. plenty of room. hope to have someone along for the fishing and company. 😉

Thanks to all that I have received the registration forms and money from so far for this tourney! We have a rough count of 25 right now. This is a pre-registration event and since we don't have an official start time and the fact I need a food headcount, I need all the forms and money by 5/16/08! Thanks everyone!

Hey,

I'm sure they shut it down to bass tournements so the bass aren't repeatedly pulled off of their nests. Just my opinion of course.

Chad My registration is also in the mail.

Is the Lax a seperate prize than the calcutta? I'm presuming a guy (like musky ed or myself [[%&]]) entering the calcutta will clean house with a lax reproduction as well as the calcutta $$.

As far as the other tourney:
It surprises me the PAFBC would authorize two tourney permits for Marsh Creek on the same day. Burning bridges with other fishing clubs isn't good diplomacy on our part if its just a bunch of guys getting together to catch and release some fish.....Think of what can potentially happen to all our juveniles that end up on the end of the bass anglers line. Has anyone contacted the PAFBC for facts about the other tourney or is all the information second hand?

Opti,

It doesnt suprise me one bit that they would give a permit out for two tourny's the same day. I have seen 3 tournys on that lake on a weekend several diferent times.. I am a bit suprised if they would give a bass tourny a permit in the off season. I wonder if it is a catch/release tourny (paper tourny). I remember some bass clubs do that. They basically fish a tourny but once a fish is caught it is weighted and release and the other guy on the boat verifies the catch..

Hey guys,

Just wanted to put some clarification around this other tournament that is scheduled the same day. I was notified of this on my permit that I received back from the state. I called the office today for clarification. Basically it is a bass club (wouldn't say who) having an outing however they're fishng for panfish. Their permit came in two days before ours and instead of the state rejecting ours, we've been asked to start our event at 7:00am as this other tourney will start at 6:00am. You may want to get there way before 6:00am or think about there at 7:00am.

The original email states that the BBQ will be at 3pm at the picnic tables. Which side of the lake are we looking at. The tables up by the pool in the left lot, the ones at the top of the hill by the pool, or some other place. I would hate to miss all you guys and the good eats after being on the lake all day. First time I'll get to see all of you, plus I will have young Evan Katz with me and I'm sure he'll want to get with you guys also.
