As of 12/10/04 Archie is the leader in both the local and overall release contests. He has a commanding lead over Matt Lysek in the overall contest. Archie with 9 fish and 109 points, and Matt with 7 fish and 53 1/2 points.. The local contest is a different story with archie having 5 fish for 54 points and Matt again with 7 fish and 53 1/2 points. If I were Matt I'd surely find another fish someplace in local waters to keep this guy from sweeping both categories!! The largest (reported) fish to date is 45" caught at Mercer lake by Gary Turansick, but I've seen reports on the website of a larger one. Again NO REPORT!! There are only 12 members have reported a total of 58 fish (52 from local waters) , from 12 different venues (5 outside of the club area waters. Mercer Lake has produced 31 of the 52 local fish. This will be the last report till the final one in mid January, and I'm not going to repeat my diatribe from last month about the importance of sending in release information. If you have'nt gotten the point yet you are not going to. Wishing you all a joyous Christmas and Happy New Year.

The funny thing is the pond was unproven at the start of this season. And i agree, trying unproven waters like beltzville, belmont, wallpack, the cole yard and others is important to expand our productive waters. But still,we fish to catch fish so at some point in time you have to fish a credible body of water. Also, keep in mind there are many factors involved in catching a lot of fish. Most of the top guys will have at least 30 days of fishing under there belt if not more like 50 days. And if someone can put 10 days on the water in oct or nov, wow, how much of a difference could that make.So remember, the release contest is all about having fun and nothing more. And the release forms will help direct the state in the right direction.Have fun,Bob
