A recent conversation with a good friend, who also happens to be a good fisherman, prompts this post.

I've noticed that a number of my Muskie fishing brethren go fishing without wearing a life jacket. I have 3 inflatable SOSpender type vests on my boat, and if you've fished with me in rough water or cold weather (or any time the water temp is below 70 degrees), you know that we don't leave the ramp without donning them. It's a simple matter of slipping it on and fastening a single buckle.

IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!!!

People really do die while fishing, I've known guys who went wading or out in a small boat and came back in a Coast Guard body bag. Even a shore fisherman can slip, hit his head on a rock and be fish food before anyone thinks of looking for him.

I really don't want to recieve a call asking me to be a pallbearer for one of my good friends.

Think about it...

That definitely includes wading in cold water. I had a close call duck hunting were my chest waders started to fill with water and take me out to sea, after I stepped off a break line that I didn't see,( In the tidal Delaware river)

D,
Those inflatable suspenders that you have are great. You don't even realize you have them on.
Well worth it when you only have something like a minute and a half to live in cold water.
