Hey,
I read the same article and found nothing in it that we are not already doing. Personally, I think that with the funds that we raise, already going mainly to the resource, we don't need another sub-orginization to finance. Nothing against the individual or the group, but if the majority of their fund raising goes to their banquets, awards and other internal needs then I'm not about to join the new orginization.
If, on the other hand, a loosely organized collaborative effort for this area of the country is seen as a good thing then I'll throw my hat into that. But this chapter and Muskies, Inc. International is the only one that I'm going throw any money into.

Guys,
The eastern muskie alliance idea was first propsed as a separate club from MI, becuase several people in eastern chapters felt ignored by MI international. See the threerivers board for the discussion that really got this started:
http://www.muskie411.com/clubf.....7/161.html
We don't need yet another fishing club in the world, but I think that the idea is to get the eastern chapters talking and to get the international's attention. The PA Chapters are already engaging the PFBC so some of these things are already happening without the alliance in place. MI50 should be proud of the role that they have had in this renewed dialogue; it has certainly been more productive than previous approaches.
And with the alliance, you can have a giant tourny at the Nock and see if all the muskie guys in the eastern US can outdo the one fish that has been caught there in two years...... 🙂

27 guys one conclusion somebody said we were slackers and not intrested in this private afair. I read the orignal thread and Ch 22 and Ch 50 were mention 5 times as well as Greenwood Lake. I know they spoke to people in this club and that person expressed other peoples feelings, I just don't understand why the end result was we were negative and opposed to this idea . I will say its a great idea and if they want to support what we have aready been doing we could use the help. The idea of being slighted or over looked will take us nowhere so move on is what we'll do. And the JACK BAGS that started this wi'll need to go Bass Fishing.
I realize my opinions are strong but the BULLSHIT IN THIS CLUB HAS TO STOP

Political issues always cause strife.... and bureaucracy can be good and bad so personally I don't think there is a right answer to the Eastern Muskie Alliance. Rather then start a new club or branch of MI - why doesn't MI recognize its wonderful achievements of growth and decentralize HQ representation and regionalize (a bit more like providences in Canada... and yes Quebec wants out.)? We can still have MI based out of HQ but at least we can feel that the east is being represented (especially with today's technologies - that shouldn't be too hard to participate from our home). That to me would aswer a lot of questions - like specifically where is our voice when our money is being used plus a devoted section of the magazine / website for each of the areas. If an Eastern Muskie Alliance was created would I join it? Absolutely, its another way to meet more crazy people like myself. I have been out of it (although I did spend 20 minutes reading all those threads) so I don't know what's been said and not said from our club - clearly if the Alliance gains steam we as club will need to address this issue further. On a side note, does anyone still want to go to the symp or board meeting? I know this days away but my miles are still there to be used. peace out - kip {0}} <<<<><<<
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I think the want is there, just not the money.Again, i was dead against paying for it out of club funds.I guess it just didnt make enough sence,or the payback wasn't enough for people to pull money out of there pockets? And am i correct in seeing that another guy would support EMA?Someone got incorrect info i guess.Bob

I agree with spending as much of our money locally as possible. As a small business owner I also know a bit about OVERHEAD. I'm not sure that there is any money left over from the annual dues we pay that could be put directly into each chapters fishery. Our dues most likely feed the "machine" that MI internetional has become.
I also know that there is power in numbers. A question for Bob Jones- Has the MI name helped in "getting our foot in the door" with NJ and PA F&BC or any other agencies? I would venture to say yes. If the MI recognition is not included with EMA would it be as effective?
I also fear a micro-managed organization that could break down due to money disputes spent within the region. Would eastern PA feel slighted that western PA (which currently has what looks to be at least four times as many members) got more club money put into their local waters? Where does it end? Lets face it- we would all love to have a trophy fishery in our back yard waters, but that's not possible. Copper River is 15 minutes from me. The Nock is the same for Deiter and Archie. Smithfield for Tom. All of us have similar scenerios, but one common goal. Why limit our potential. The "real" money that we generate is going to our fisheries and we should be proud of that. The focus should be on how we can maintain it and generate even more.
I'm not apposed to the EMA, but I'm not sure that it would be as effective. -Eric

We get nothing back from MI dues other than the mag and plauqs that they are taking away.Does MI name help us.Its hard for me to say because i have nothing to compare it to.But i would like to think it does and believe that to be true.I personaly ill continue as an Mi member and most likely support the EMA also. But most of all, continue to work here in the east and in Nj along with ch22.Bob
