MI Chapter 50 is honored to be hosting this years Fall Chapter Challenge Muskie Tournament. The tournament will take place on October 13th at Lake Hopatcong. We will use Lee’s Marina again as our launch area and the tournament will begin at 6:30am. The tournament will conclude at 3:00pm sharp and the festivities will be held on the lake at Pavinci’s restaurant.

The registration fee will be $30 payable to Penn Jersey MI 50. This is a pre-registration event; I would like to have the registration forms and fee by 10/3/07. As an incentive for everyone to get their forms in early, we will draw a name from those that get their forms in by 9/26/07 and they will win back their registration fee! The forms are located at http://mi50.com/library.htm, you will need to print and complete the 2007 Fall Tourney Registration Form.pdf and the 2007 Fall Liability Release Form.pdf. The tournament rules will be posted within the next week or so.

In addition, I will be running an optional Calcutta with 100% payout to the winners. The Calcutta will be $10 payable to Chad Theesfeld. Please send a separate check from the registration fee or if you see me, you can give me cash.

We’re looking forward to a big turnout for this exciting tournament. I’ll be posting additional information as details are worked out. So far the 1st place prize(s) are going to rock!

Tournament prize donations are welcome; please feel free to contact me!

Has anyone checked with 22 and knee deep if they are available on Saturdays in the fall? I heard that they go hunting on Saturdays and that is why they schedule the tourneys for Sunday.
Just a thought....

Anyone have room in their boat? I would happily take mine, but I have never fished Hopatcong and would be at a disadvantage. So I figured it might be better to hook up with someone who's been there.
So if you wouldn't mind company, I'd appreciate a ride.
Thanks!

I wouldn't count on much KDC participation, the King of the Lake Contest is 5am Saturday, October 13th thru 2pm Sunday, October 14th.

Wow, a repro - nice prize!

I've bought a NJ 2 day license on a few occasions for I believe $17. You can buy it on-line which I believe there is a link on the MI22 website.

Presuming my PA certificate will apply in NJ I plan to be in for the tourney.

Barry, I have only fished Hopatkong twice and am greener than most when it comes to catching muskies but you are welcome to team up on my boat if you wish. Shoot me a PM if interested.

Asingua, Knee Deep is a fishing club http://www.kneedeepclub.org/

Ed, See NJ license fees at http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw.....shneed.htm
and buy license online at https://www3.wildlifelicense.c...../start.php

Matt, In regard to your email and message, the King of Lake contest that weekend is a multi-species contest, excluding muskies. We don't want them being transported/kept/killed so we don't include them in any of our contests. There will be anywhere from 20 to 40 boats in the contest (varies from year to year), mostly bait fishing with some anglers trolling and casting. You can see the rules from last year's entry form at http://www.kneedeepclub.org/Fo...../king.html.
Will the two contests compete? For real estate sure - but there will also be bass tournaments going on as well - as always. For entries I doubt it, I don't think any KDC members entered the muskie event last year - not much interest I guess. I'll be fishing the KDC contest, I need to defend my title. ;D

Got a question here guys!!
Just seen on a web site that taking an online exam for the permit will not give you a license for boat operators but you still have to take a proctored exam?? HUH??
Does anyone have a direct link to getting the Cert for boat ops for this tourney?
Thanks for the help!

From Interstate 80 take the Mt. Arlington - Lake Hopatkong Exit Past NJ Marine & Cracker Barrell Restaurant. Continue going up hill and north (road winds) approx. 5 miles. Lees Park Marina will be on the Left side after coming through Mt. Arlington and down a small hill. I believe there is a sign at the entrance to the marina and the launch fee w/ parking is around $10. There are 3 or 4 launch ramps with fairly adequate docking piers.

I want to wish everyone in the tournament good luck this weekend! I was looking forward to being in this, then all plans changed. Thought we'd be heading to Indiana for some family matters. That didn't happen. Thought I'd be working 6 days a week at the depot supporting our troops. That now looks like it's not going to happen! So now I have tomorrow free and I've already made other plans! Isn't that the way it goes?!?! As I said, I want to wish everyone good luck Musky hunting. And be safe out there. I want to see your smiling faces at the next meeting, if I can make that! Things could change again! Good hunting folks!!!

Thanks guys for organizing a great tourney, dinner, and prizes. It was good to see so many folks from our brother chapter. It is always nice to meet new people with the same disease that I have. I wish chapter 22 could have made a stronger showing. Next time I promise! Congrats! to all who put one in the boat yesterday, way to go!

I'd also like the thank Brian from BK Lures for his donation. Unfortunately the package is still in transit so we weren't able to have it for Saturday. Brian painted a special Les Chubbie that had 2007 Chapter Challenge on it. In speaking to Matt, that lure will be apart of the first place prize! Congrats again Archie!

We had a great time and at least boated some toothy fish (pickerel) which kept things interesting.

Echoing all other comments ...... Thanks to all that were responsible for putting it all together.

I'm already looking forward toward the annual spring tourney.

That was a pair of Costa Del Mar's that I was scratching (actually, NOT scratching) with a key. Kevin is a small business owner and member of MI50 who knows the meaning of customer service. Realizing that I was 2 days away from a vacation this summer, he overnighted my Maui Jim's, and gave them to me at a great price!! Anyone in need of a good pair of sunglasses should call Kevin.

Thanks again to Kevin for donating a great pair of glasses, and to all those who donated and participated!!

Great job putting it all together gents. Wish I had met a few more of our brothers but, there is never enough time. Congratulatioons to the guy's who had success. All we could catch were the other species we needed had we been in the "King of the Lake" tourney (5lb. Smallie & an 8lb. Walleye). Joe, I hope you didn't have your son throwing those Dawgs all day, he'd probably sleep for a week, LOL. Look forward to the next one. Pat

Should we begin discussion of when and where to have our chapters spring outing? Would be good to have a date set so as not to conflict with the chapter challenge with 22! Congrats to all who made it to this one. Wish I could have been there. Now all the overtime is back on again at work! Wish they would make up their minds! I'm working this Saturday. Probably best since it's supposed to be a stormy day! Have a great one, everybody!

Well as long as Musky Ed, got the ball rolling, here's my suggestion. Anytime we as a club can get out and have fun fishing,I say the more the merrier! As far as a Chapter 50 outing, Beltzville is still nice because of the facilities as well as the BBQ! What about Marsh Creek or the Nock for a Tourny? I kind of like the possibility of the Nock. It's certainly big enough to handle all the boat pressure. Of course Hopatcong or Greenwood would be nice as well. And then you have the big three... Are the lakes iced out by then Ed ? Bottom line is that a spring and fall tourny would be great as well as our Chapter Tourny. Your thoughts...

I'll jump in on this one.

My vote for our spring or Chapter tourney would be for Hopatcong or (dare I even suggest it?), Mercer. It was fun actually having fish caught at a tournament that our club hosted. Maybe in a couple of years, when our babies are big enough, we can have the tournament on our lake, Marsh Creek. Until then I suggest that we stay with waters that consistantly produce.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the tournament. We had a great time. We caught our fair share of pickeral and got lucky with 1 fish. Pat - Nick made about 3 tosses and then went back to the weedless daredevil spoon. I also got a new guy to join Muskies inc figure I'd tie in some club promoting. Chad, great job!! Looking forward to fall fishing. <<<<><<<
