Same thing is happening at little buffalo. Tigers are going over the damn and all the professional trout fisherman are going into the creek and snagging them.
Theres a new sporting goods store in Newport (same location as lake) called "Basecamp Outfitters). They have a facebook page and have people bring their catches in, and of course dead muskies. Id love to see a bunch of you guys/gals "like" the page, and everytime they post a dead musky help me educate the people who are doing this. Stregnth in numbers will get the message across.
The store is now stocking large minnows for the purpose of musky fishing the lake, and they could care less how many are caught and kept. Everyone feels like a rockstar when they catch one and get put on their facebook page. It's sickening.
Any other "weekend rescues" planned for marsh? Id come down.
I want to walk the whole creek below little buffalo to get an idea of how many are there and where. Anyone interested in a rescue there? I might need some help to plan a rescue. I was told there is close to 10 fish in one hole alone, and there is no holes in this tiny little creek. Snag central for the scum. That lake went from little to no pressure, to guys everywhere in about 3 years. 17 fish per acre per year will do that I suppose........

I been fishin Little Buff for years and the only skis I saw were dead due to lures and fishing line. I talked to locals up there and they say they see em all the time but team tadpole would definatley be down to resue them there. Those "professional" trout guys get off killing em, they think they eat all the trout but the actually eat the fish that compete with the trout for food. let me know if this goes down. Thanks

Good deal. Thanks. I know they eat the trout, and the guys I talk to worry about the bass and panfish. They dont realize how much bait is there. Tons of fish, but still hard to catch. I found that smaller baits are the ticket there. May and sept are key time frames. I live in Perry county, but dont act like the 90% of the jack weeds that live up there. Kill kill kill...... its horrible with fishing and hunting.

Great job guys!
I might put something together for Sunday for Little Buffalo. I email Mr. Kauffmann to make sure it was ok, still waiting to hear back. I also emailed the state park to let them know what Im hearing. Apparently there was another taken out in the past 24 hours in the posted spillway area.
Im going to scout the creek out tonight and some tomorrow. I know this is a busy weekend for everyone, but if you are interested, and I can find the fish, I will be attemping a rescue Sunday. Im open pretty much all day, so i can be flexible. If not this weekend, then next for sure. If you are coming from a distance, I will be more than happy to point you in the right to fish afterwards, whether it be the lake or the river. I have a boat ramp in my back yard with some decent musky spots around. Jet would be necessary.
PM me your number if you are interested, and I will keep in contact.
Thanks in advance.

Sabia, most fish were beat up, witness them trying to get above the small dam after the spill way (like salmon but not successful). Yes chin damage, We didn't take a lot of time looking at them. Pretty much net to cooler to lake, Long may have more details. One of the largest fish >48" pure had quarter size wound in the side, this fish was very energetic like the rest of them. All fished seemed to release well. There are plenty fish left in a consolidated area in the upper creek that could be moved back to the lake.

Tom, tremendous job coordinating this effort. We had a great time yesterday! Thanks for the food and drinks. Amazing to have those fish swimming around at my feet. I put a gallery together, so keep the pics coming. Working on video too.
You're right, that giant was amazing - sad that some people are ripping these fish open. I hope she lives.

36 fish total so far saved. When I think about what each of those fish are worth at those sizes, I am reminded of that publication that Muskies Inc International released.
Looking at the attached chart, if the avg length of these 36 fish is 40", hypothetically it would take 33 10" fish to get one to that size. So, at $10 a fish, that fish is worth $330.
36 fish @ 330.00 is close to $12,000
(Those few big girls netted could cost $1500 each)
Interesting to think about.

I was just informed that I have a seniors sports night at OJR HS tonight at 6:30. While I'm pissed I just found out, I won't miss my sons senior year awards night.
Sorry but I'm out again tonight. I was looking forward to it. Glad I got to help out 3 times a few years back. Thanks to all who've chipped in this year especially Tom Long
