Gentlemen, I have taken on the task of arranging the locations for our future meetings. I would like feedback from everyone as to where we should have meetings. I assume that the 1st Wednesday of the month hould remain constant.
My first thought is to have every other month at Sportsmens so as to be fair to the NJ guys. But I question the need for that as only two NJ guys who don't normally attend the Pa meetings were at the last one.
I am also looking for suggestions for a location to have our PA meetings. Cabela's is too far for a Wednesday night meeting for most of us. Is there a room we can use for free anywhere? Is there another place like Sportsmens in Pa where we could use a seminar room?
What about the idea of having meetings at members houses? We could work it out that no one would have to host more than one meeting a year. I know that I would be willing to host one, and Dieter mentioned that he would host one. But since we only live about a mile apart it would mean two trips to the same area. Any thoughts here?
I would like to get our next meeting location posted on the website within one week, so please respond with comments.
thanks!
Barry

I like the idea of hosting at individuals homes, at the same time, I think mine would be a bit out of the way!!! ;D Does anyone know of a bar/restaurant where we might be able to arrange reserving some tables once a month? That way we could also get something to eat while we're there. By the time I get anywhere, I'm hungry. Waiting till after our meetings can be tough. I know other organizations do things like this. Maybe a pizza place or as I said, a bar/restaurant. They usually have room to accomodate these sort of things. And when you tell them you'll bring 15 to 20 people on a given night, they are usually receptive to these ideas.

That's a great idea Ed. Question - would Sportsman's let us bring in pizza (even if shared with their employees)? If we could find a place in Lambertville / Frenchtown / Newton area maybe that would cut everyones travel time a bit... {0}}
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

How would you guys feel about the Lehigh Valley area for a meeting? If you guys think you might be interested let me know, and I'll start to check around. I have a couple of places in mind , but will wait to hear from you first.

I have a suggestion for you to consider, I would be willing to have a meeting this summer at my house. I have a "sun room" that would accomodate approx. 10-15. The idea would be to have the meeting early afternoon either a Saturday or Sunday, and then to fish Tuscorora Lake or Beltzville Lake, which is approx. 35-40 min. from my house. This would pretty much encompass most of the day so I don't know how you would feel about this. As far as food would go, we could either cook out or bring pizza. I live in Bethlehem, which would be about an hour or so from Philly. If your interested, let me know and we could set something up.

Thanks for the offer.
Let me recap what I've been hearing about future meetings.
No one wants to have weekend meetings during the warmer weather. Therefore we will have to maintain Wednesday nights from May to October.
Also we would prefer not be in a bar as the raffles tend to raise less money. Probably because we are spending some of our raffle money on food and drinks.
So where do we go?
Should it be Sportmens February, April, June, August, October, December and Cabelas on Saturdays in November, January, and March? That leaves May, July, and September where we can visit members homes on Wednesday nights. Using only three members a year will ensure that we can use all our members once every few years.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like a plan. Put me down as the first "Host" for the May meeting in Doylestown at my house.

D'oh!!! Tom I just mentioned about how no one wants to have a meeting on Saturday in the warm weather months. I appreciate your offer however.
It has been decided that our next meeting will be at Cabelas on April 1 at 8AM.
This will be our last Cabelas meeting until November.
So far we have April 1 at Cabelas and May 3 at Big D's house. I would like to have June 7 at Sportsmens.
Then we can have July 5 at a members house. I am getting back from vacation the day before or else I would be happy to host that meeting.
Please mark these dates on your calendars.
Seb, if you are reading this, would you please put it on our website?
Thanks.

While my recent attendance records are poor, I'd like to make up for it and volunteer my place for a meeting over the summer if there's still a month that needs to be filled. I've got a large deck out back and a basement with Lager on tap! Barry let me know if you still need volunteers and what month you have open. Thanks!
