I don't know about everbody else, but to me it is a night out with the guys. Getting together with a little food, liquid refreshments and good friends discussing the king of fresh water <<<<><<< is what it is all about.
I'm in for a place a little less stark than the Sportman's Center. Plus, was it me going through menopause or was that place hot on Wed. What is it like in July??

We had an AWESOME dinner at Mastori's Diner, about 3 minutes up the road from Sportsman's. Maybe they have a meeting room we could use. We could maybe meet a little earlier, and stay a little later (like we did in the parking lot at Sportsman's until almost 10PM). If it's the KOP area, we might be able to find a restaurant with a meeting room. I am again offering my house and hospitality for a meeting in the Doylestown area.
Let's here some ideas!

You know I wouldn't mind a shorter drive! When I got home the other night, it was after midnight when I crawled in bed. Needless to say, I didn't go to work the next morning. But that's the first time I've done that. I'm all for a bar/restaurant combo. Just have to bring extra cash! And if a similar setup could be found in the Jersey area, all the better. I don't care for being run out at 9PM. Especially when you have a great meeting like you had the other night! I wish I could have stayed longer. And if Deiter wants to offer his house, great. I think that's awesome! I'd be willing to bring refreshments of sorts if need be. Just keep me posted guys. I'm in!

I could make a KOP trip, would take over an hour to get there and the traffic would be tough around rush hour (probably no different then the PA guys making the NJ trip). What about a place 1/2 between us all - say somewhere near the river, Lambertville or on the PA side? Either way I'll make the drive. The one nice attribute about the SC (besides forced heat induced dieting) is that new members or interested members know the place well and have "comfort" in attending. Where as with a restaurant the environment may seem too private. I like the idea of switching places monthly (NJ / PA) as our charter indicates our dual state interests. <<<<><<<
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I'm up for whatever. Unfortunately, my work schedule hasn't been kind lately. A half-way point and/or alternating locations sounds fair and I wouldn't mind the trip once a month. I don't know if it's further out of the way for anyone but I do know of two dive bars in Manyunck that have allowed meetings in the back room. (One has 50 cent Schaeffers drafts too) Has anyone given any thought to either a VFW, Moose, or Elk lodge? I volunteer at a VFW in south jersey and a local bass club holds meetings there. Just some ideas.

There's a lot of good ideas here. As a NJ guy I wouldn't mind a little travel time since the PA folks do it now. I really liked Joe T's idea about a place in the Lambertville area or such. I think a venue a little bit north (above the city) even if it were further west would benefit everyone's travel concerns by avoiding a little bit of traffic. Access from the PA pike or 295 in Jersey and avoiding the Shure-kill is key.
Having alternating east/west meetings may somewhat split the group up. PA guys this month, NJ guys next month. It wouldn't be planned that way, but it could happen. Otherwise I like the idea.

Eric,
Great point about the East-West issue.
Prez had suggested the KOP area for the next meeting, and I second the motion. Let's put it to an informal vote. [[%&]]

I'm in for the KOP May meeting. This way we can see first hand the pro's and con's.
Here's an off the wall idea. The NJ fishing summary claims that June is the best month for tigers in the Rancocas. I live about 3 miles from this mighty body of water. How about we have the June meeting say on a Saturday or Sunday either at my house or at the local bar that also happens to have a boat ramp on the Rancocas. The affore mentioned bar (rumored about in NJMatt's reports) is supposedly at the epicenter of the muskie hot spots along the Rancocas. We meet, we fish, we drink. Ahhhhh, the good life!!! [&]]
I have a few acres to accomodate everyone's boats/trailers if that is a concern. If the fishing is cruel to our fine organization that day, we can either cry in our beers afterwards at the bar or grill up a few fat steaks at my place afterwards.
At least we can conclude for sure whether or not the Rancocas is a viable fishery. I will warn ye all ahead of time..... the Rancocas is not the most beautiful bodies of water, and unfortunatly the waitresses at the bar envy the beautiful set of teeth that belong to the tigers!!!! [&]]
I'm willing to put in some long hour after work on the creek before June to see if it's worth the effort.
Just an idea. -Eric

I'm not aware of any good bait shops/tackle barns in that area - but Bob should know all about it.
How about a tackle/equipment trade at one of our meetings? I've got a bunch of stuff, including a number of extra rods (including a Loomis IM6), some good reels, an electric motor, and tons of extra tackle to part with. I'm sure that there are some of you that could pare down your tackle, too!
