Thank you very much members of Chapter 50 for your generous donation of $700 to the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife's Hackettstown Hatchery Muskie Program. Combining your money with $800 dollars from MI22 and our $1000 dollars I ordered 500 pounds of fathead minnows today from Arkansas. They should be arriving in the next couple of weeks just in time because the muskies are growing quite fast and will need some substantial food very soon.
Numbers are looking good still and I have been in touch with PA to make sure they are in good shape also and it sounds like they are. We should have some surplus fish for the Delaware again this year if all goes well. A formula I have taken from a conversation with a 30+ year veteran fish culturist in NY is that it takes about 3 pounds of fatheads to make a pound of muskie. So this minnow order should make about 170 pounds of muskie weight.
Hoping all is going well with you guys there seems to be alot of tension about website problems in both groups, just remeber what its all about having fun, teaching new people about your great sport and of course catching some good fish every once in awhile. Stay in touch guys and I will talk with you soon.
