My thought was that he reacted too fast. He saw the strike and pulled the bait out of the fish's mouth instead of waiting to feel it solidly on the line. The same thing happens with topwaters, we let our eyes deceive us into thinking that we have a strike.
But, that only my opinion.

Great site. Unfortunately I'm here at work and had to keep myself from looking at the other 54 clips of musky being caught.
As far as that original clip goes, it looked to me like the fish just flared at the lure without actually taking it in and, as Barry said, the guy probably just overreacted. Thanks for posting that.

He sure was pulling that eight slowly. That fish might have hit more solidly if he'd speeded up and gone deeper...
