We had a great meeting at our new "regular" meeting place, Casey's in Quakertown. 8 members and one potential member showed up and we were able to get a lot of things done.
Minutes
1. Reports
a. Financial – Musky School brought in about $3,000. when all is said and done. DL had a death in the family, no financial report.
b. DL will be the Treasurer and Joe T. will act as a Controller.
2. Message from Matt – Thank you to Bob for all the work done.
3. Discussion of Work Groups (See below)
4. Approval of Mission Statement – amended Statement #1 was accepted via a show of hands.
5. Appointment of VP – Barry Surkin has volunteered for this position.
6. Minnow/holdover update and discussion. – The state is talking about possibly holding over 1,000 Muskies, with our club providing the minnows for feeding. This is still very much in flux.
7. Club calendar update
a. The idea is to have a central meeting place such as Casey’s in Quakertown, with some meetings at Cabela’s, Sportsman’s and member’s homes on occasion. Barry will post the schedule for the remaining meetings this year by the next meeting.
8. Recap of muskie school
a. The good; Lots of fish (6) caught by participants, with lots more fish seen.
b. The bad; We let ourselves get spread out (time-wise), which was somewhat confusing.
c. New ideas; Ideas included having a mini-seminar prior to the fishing and a shore lunch afterward, perhaps concentrating on a body of water (Smithfield Beach was mentioned).
9. Goals to be accomplished at this and future meetings were discussed and are detailed elsewhere in this report.
10. Budget mechanics – Joe T., DL, Matt will work on a preliminary budget (incoming and outgoing monies)
11. Tourney preparation
a. Last minute details and directions – registration forms and monies can be paid at the dinner after the tournament if not paid prior. Starting time is anytime anytime after midnight and ending time is 3PM.
12. T-shirts, logo – logo is as it was accepted by the membership
13. Discussion on raising our own fish - A work group, headed by Tom Long, will spend the summer studying options, collecting info on costs, availability of fish and grants and report back to the membership at the October meeting. Matt, Dieter, George Roman will be members of the work group. Openings for one or two other volunteers.
14. EMA has merged with the WMRA (World Record Muskie Assoc.) and is now the NAMA (North American Muskie Association)– Tom Long will be our liason with the organization and will report on them.
15. Raffle – Hawg Dancer, Smeagle, Grandma, Cisco Topwater & Lily tail were raffled for a total of $70. to the club.
