Has anyone read the October issue of Muskie Magazines article "Trophy Muskellunge"? (Pg. 18) There is a great chart that shows the minimum reproductive size to be 34-35" which would make that fish 7-10 years old. I think that this is a great piece of evidence that should be presented to PA and NJ F&BC with respect to increasing the minimum size to at least 36 or 40".
Although it is debated if these fish reproduce in all of our waters- I believe there is evidence that some of our waters have the potential for natural reproduction. Immagine the impact on other species if their size limit was below spawning size! It should be argued that muskies should at least be given the chance to reproduce before being elligible for harvesting by the "others" [[%&]]
A great place to start the foundation for increased size minimums. -Eric

Hey Eric,
I agree wholeheartedly with your suggestion. My question is, if this is indeed scientific fact, why the hell weren't the size restrictions structured in that manner to begin with? Did someone at the Fish Commission look at a 30 inch muskie and say, "Well, that's certainly bigger than any trout, bass or walleye that we're likely to catch, let's make that the size limit." ?
Hopefully Bob and Fred can make that point next month at the meeting they are attending.
