Hey boys I haven't completely forgotten about you all. Just a crazy time of year with trapnetting, spawning and of course chasing the jersey turkey with NJ Pres. Graf. No turkeys yet, but the rest has been good. Currently traps are in Echo Lake Reservoir bringing in some Leech Lakers. Caught 10 over the past few days 4 ripe females biggest fish so far is a 44" 19 pounder from there. We will finish up our broodstock season this coming week up there.
We caught 213 northerns in Budd Lake, biggest fish 12.55 pounds and 34.6 inches in nine days of netting. Swartswood Lake was its usual pleasant self. Lots of nice walleyes Captured 216 walleye in nine days. Biggest fish was a spawned out female weighing in at 10.06 pounds and 29.2 inches. Walleyes averaged 3.4 pounds and 19.6 inches.
Our week in Greenwood Lake produced 22 muskies and 77 walleyes. Biggest muskie was 50 inches and 33 pounds and she was also spawned out, probably closer to 35 pounds with eggs. Biggest eye was 9.5 pounds and 28.8 inches. Muskies averaged 36 inches and 12 pounds. walleyes averaged 23.2 inches and a whoppingt 5.4 pounds.
Mi22's monthly meeting is going to be here at the hatchery on tuesday night April 25th if any of you guys are interested in attending. We should have some adults here to take a look at. You are all more than welcome it should be a good night to talk muskie.
If you haven't heard already we have dropped our tiger program due to lack of them showing up in the catch. We are going to stock those waters with pures.
We are planning on stocking 15 waters this year with pures I will email Joe with the scheduled list.
Gotta go for now but maybe see some of you at the meeting.
Oh yeah we didn't trap Mercer this year. For a couple of reasons one being we haven't had any success with the eggs from that lake. Not sure why maybe their diet. We held over a few females from Mercer last year and just spawned them this week in the hatchery. it will be interesting to see how there eggs hatch on our diet.

I have had some good discussions with the PA folks both Managers and Hatchery folks and I think they are heading down the right road with the muskie program just keep the faith.

Thanks Craig, great update. I have the excel file of proposed stocking for "skies" and other fish from Craig for this year - I will put the Muskie info on a thread in our private section. For those of you interested in other fishing "closet" activities - send me a PM and I'll e-mail you the file. Interesting about Mercer, wonder if the water quality is contributing as well. <<<<><<<
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
