Looked over the recent issue of the PA Angler and Boater Magazine and was pleasantly surprised to find a rare article on muskie fishing. However, all was lost as the monthly recipe was for something called "Musky Lobster". It sure would be nice if PFBC were a little more advanced and embraced some progressive thinking like catch-and-release or selective harvest (keep some panfish, a few small bass, or some walleye and let the big predators go!) rather than promoting harvest of muskies. This comes after a recent lengthy e-mail discussion with two of their area managers about purebred-hybrid identification after seeing them post two photos of pures that they called hybrids in their fisheries management reports (most recent example can be viewed at http://sites.state.pa.us/PA_Ex.....larion.htm).

Damn Arch, you're a published writer!!! Seriously, good going. The article not only puts forth our position on the catch and eat mentality but also lets the reader know of our continued efforts at improving the resource. It was nice to see that the Editor made note of the efforts that you guys made this year in the float stocking. Kudos to you for taking the time to write and submit.

I have been highly criticized and actually called via telephone by the higher ups from the PA Fish and Boat Commission over the years for stating that
"The PFBC (PA Fish and Boat Comm) is 30 years behind the times."
With the exception of the steelhead runs in the northwestern part of the state, this is another fine confirmation of my beliefs of their screw ups. I probably do not stand alone here either.
as for the editorial aspects of the magazine, they have written some pretty.....well maybe i should keep my mouth shut...
just, reader beware and know that it is all part of the PFBC!!!
