I just got off the ch 22 board.Judging from what i read there it looks like there are a number of ch 50 members going to the Pittsburgh show.I didn't see a post on our site and it struck me as a little odd that they would tell 22 we would be there in numbers but not invite anyone in the chapter.{not in there group}Looks like a couple of the guys bitching about sharing decided they didn't want to share anymore. It is only a muskie show but maybe someone could use some help splitting gas and a room?A little company for the ride up and the day or two at the show?Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill.I just remember the trips i had made to the show in the past.It was a good time and we all enjoyed sharing it with our fellow ch 50 BRETHREN!Sorry for the soap box,but i thought it was WEAK!Have a good time at the show guys.Bob Jones ???

I spoke with a number of members at the last meeting (we had a short conversation about it, remember?) about the Pittsburgh show and got the feeling that not many were interested in making the trip. I heard a number of excuses including that a number of our guys are headed out to Chicago and therefore will not make the Pittsburgh run.
I will be headed out on Saturday morning ( January 7th ) with a group of 4 Chapter 50 guys (Joe T., Eric, myself and Archie). Anyone who wants to caravan on this road trip is welcome to do so. We will be leaving Doylestown at about 5 AM on Saturday morning and heading out the Turnpike, for an 11AM arrival at the show. The rooms are cheap (I paid $62. for a double and $72. for a king with a cot) and it should be an excellent time.
As I said at Cabela's, this show needs the support of our members as attendance has declined somewhat in recent years. A good showing would ensure that OUR muskie show continues to thrive. Please feel free to call me or e-mail me if you'd like to join in on this trip.

I don't know at this time if I'm going to be able to get out of here. Have a few things going on. I really don't care for a 5 + hour drive(one way). I think we'd be better served if the show was somewhere like Harrisburg. With Ohio having a show in a relatively close location to Pittsburgh, I think they lose some of that traffic. Coming east would be more appealing to people east and south. We'll see what happens. I enjoyed the show I went to. Would like to see Tom Dietz again. Have a great one, Ed

Sorry Bob, I probably should have expanded on my message. I was still in the process of getting the okay with the business manager (aka wife) and there was a good shot I was going to go by air and meet Big D, Archie, and Eric at the show. Didn't mean to have my message come across wrong. J {0}}

I just got back from Pittsburg..........I went a little crazy! It got so bad that I had to buy another Lakewood box to bring everything home on the plane! Tom Dietz' presentation was excellent. I learned a few tricks.
Here's a pick of a couple things I picked up. The frog pattern is a Zimmer Swimmer and it is awesome! The other bait is a wood/plastic bait that is similar to a bulldawg, but with a replacable tail. The third is a mini suick. I thought it would be cool to try on the smallies. Muskie Inovations is also making a micro bulldawg that would be a perfect walleye bait. They also have a super magnum that weighs in at a full pound.
The show was much smaller than I thought and a lot of venders were a no show. I don't think that it will be back next year. -Eric

This is about as close I get to going away for a spa weekend - but I now know how my wife feels - spent 2 days in muskie heaven at the Pittsburgh expo. Went to the show with Dieter, Archie, and Eric (Dieter, Archie and I drove out and Eric took the businessman special - flew). Bot way... way too many lures but I had to have every one the lures (and few that I missed - Eric's bullfrog nimmer is special). Anyway, even if there were no lures to buy, the presentations were worth the drive. We sat in on all 6 presentations and not one of them was repetitive, infact several were almost direct oppostive. Here's a quick summary, Big D took notes so I am sure he will add.
Tom Dietz (river fishing techniques, primarily on the susqy)
Gregg Thomas and Chad Cain (guide fishing and success)
Jim Saric -(presentation and how to identify windows of opportunity)
Captain Larry Jones (trolling on the Niagra River and Buffalo Harbor)
Trolling Panel (discussed river and lake trolling and techniques)
Tony Grant (southern reservoir fishing and rattle baits)
By the way, I will add a picture eitehr later tonight or tomorrow that shows how many lures we bot (yeah Eric bot the lionshare but its amazing - an entire king sized bed flilled with lures). It took a while to get the hooks out of Dieter's back, but he's fine. ..... Can't wait to fish.... Great time, can't wait for next year.

Some thoughts on the Pittsburgh Expo:
Beer, Hot Wings and Primanti Brothers sandwiches are a deadly combination [&]]
As a group, you can't find a nicer bunch of people than Muskie fishermen
Muskie Innovations has so many new lures this year that it'll take me years to own one of each. They include a Catfish, a Sucker, a Perch, a Gobie, at least 7 different size/style Bulldawgs, including the Super Mag Dawg weighing in a 1 pound and stretching close to two feet. They have also seriously expanded their hard bait line.
Steve Cady no longer makes the Weagle, he sold the rights to another company (we bought some of the last ones he made, signed on the forehead).
You can spend a whole lot of money in a very short amount of time at a Muskie Expo (see the picture below).
Tom Dietz and Herb Bloxom know more about fishing for Muskies on rivers than most of us will ever hope to learn.
Tony Grant needs to cut back on the caffeine.
I'm seriously addicted to Cobb baits...
This picture only includes the damage from the first day, we stayed two days and didn't let up on the second...

Hey,
Uh, don't you guys have children and a retirement to save for? That pic of the bed is just a show of capitalistic gluttony and...I like it!!!!! Seriously, I would have liked to have gone just to go to the seminars. Especially those dealing with river techniques. I hope each of those lures produce at least one fish this year.
