Struble Lake Musky?

Was just wondering if anyone has info on whether they still stock Struble Lake in Chester County with muskies. Years ago, (about 15), I was there at the end if the day when a guy brought in a 50 incher on a windy day. Struble does tend to be a windblown murky lake, with lots of crappies and used to be a good walleye spot. I still fish there occasionally but have never targeted muskies. Any info appreciated -

I heard stories just a couple of years ago about some muskies in the 40+ range. The source was credible, but the stories were still second or third hand.

I've never been there, but if it gets less pressure than Chambers or Marsh Creek, I probably ought to try it.

Thanks, I'll be emailing the Pa Fish Commission too to see if they have any info. Struble is an interesting lake, different than most typical lakes in this region.

fishnmusicn, this is what the list i have shows.

year #### all tiger fingerlings
1976 500
1980 500
1987 750
1988 750
1990 750
1992 750

the fish comm.has stoped stocking for two reasons
1] no reports from fisherman
2] none in comm.nets or electo shocking

should some one report muskies being caught there they would consider stocking again.and now is the time to be fishing it water temp between 65--and 73 these fish are very active.so now is the time to be checking that lake.

chambers lake is a pretty new lake and have good reports from bass fisherman about this lake.i was really blown awayto find that it has been in 99,00,01,02 with 400,450,650,649 tiger fingerlings
so if any of yous are fishing this lake for muskies or bass please let us know if you'r seeing any.as far as the comm. is concerned seeing one is as good as a catch so thet us know so we can report it to them.

marsh creek has been stocked 19 years over the past 26 years.
1000 true muskies back in 99, 55,000 tiger fry back in 74, all other years stocked with at least 2100 to 4000 tiger fingerlings.

Thanks much for the info. That is a shame if they stopped stocking, I believe there is an alewife forage base in the lake along with the yellow perch, which probably had something to do with the nice muskies taken out of there. I remember reading about another 50 incher in a local paper taken out about the same time - the fish weighed 30 lbs. The one I saw was definitely a purebred strain fish. Will have to give Chambers a try, and definitely Marsh Creek as well. One other question, would there be a possibility of muskies still residing in Struble after all this time?

While fishing Marsh Creek last summer for muskies there were a couple of guys talking about Struble's tigers. I went and gave it a try one rainy day and casted from the banks for about 4 hours and didn't see anything. I did hear from a farmer in Gunthriesville that a few are still left so if this is true- they must be giants!

I have never fished Struble Lake but I have been to Chambers about five or six times in the last year. In fact I was there today!! This place is loaded with nice bass, mostly LM but plenty of smallies also. I caught a nice 17'' smallie today with a baseball in it's stomach. I also got a chubby 20'' Esox Niger today. But I didn't know that muskie were stocked there before this year. Nobody that I have talked to around the lake have ever mentioned muskie being in there. I guess maybe I should bring my heavy gear with me next time I head out there!!! 🙂
