I thought that this might happen. I wish I had the knowledge to help.
Is it possible to have a paid webmaster if no one has the know how or time to help? Who runs the Bucks Board? It's the same format and seems like it would be a no brainer for that webmaster. I think it would really hurt the club if we lost the site. Maybe we can get a few options together before the July meeting. -Eric

Paying someone is something we've concidered.I also have someone looking into the ins and outs.We also have a section on international we could use.As far as it hurting the club, i would like to think its the strength and hard work of our members,and not the web site that not only make this club,but makes the fishing better in PA and south Jersey.Bob >:D

Bob- I wasn't suggesting that the web-site is the core of club. I was simply pointing out the fact that it helps keep the group tighter. Everyone can feel connected even when they miss meetings or club outings. It would be a shame to lose something that we already have. That's regression and we should avoid it if at all possible.
I posted to keep the thread current and on everyone's mind since I think the site is something we all enjoy and benefit from. No criticisms here- just wanted to table all of options before the meeting.

I think at the July meeting we need to have some one "officially" responsible for the website maintenance. This person can also analyze the costs of having a paid webhost or provider. The Webmaster should be an officer position. {0}}

I agree with JoeT.
The position of Webmaster is one we should consider making an officer. Another thing for a very full agenda...

I'm just woundering what making our webmaster an officer will acomplish.It doesnt matter to me if we do it or not.There is no advantage to being an officer.You get nothing from it,you make no final decitions and i dont know how it will help with his job???If i'm missing something please help me out here.Thanks,Bob. >:D

I think our website is critical to our club growth and sustenance and that the individual we elect to run it needs to understand the importance of this role. I think the officer position would formalize their meeting participation on a monthly / ongoing basis. We all have one equal vote regardless of position so I agree with you in that the advantage is limited. However, checking other MI websites, we were lucky in having such a good website built and I would be saddened if it were to slowly deteriorate over time due to a lack of perceived support from the club. I know we probably all feel that there are too many officer positions (my NJ officer position should be more of committee role that reports into Bob, so we can reduce that officer position by one if it helps). I just feel the webhost position is critical. Perhaps we can tie the role into the Secretary role of some sort.... Just brainstorming... {0}}
