Hello members,
Twig and I finished up the "LiL'Willys" and just wanted to share some of the colors we're doing. We got to field test them on Sunday and, "out of the box" they ran wonderfully. After throwing 6 different patterns I tied on what we call "Camo Carp" and on the 3rd cast
LiL' Willy had convienced it's first muskie to eat!!!!!!!!!!!! After releasing that one, we had "alot" of follows and Ben had a nice fish on the walleye pattern, but it got off. What a great feeling that a lure we designed, built and painted works and on its first time on the water. 😮 I can't wait to get back to the river with these things. Later

Worm pretty much summed it all up. (spoken well if I might add) Just to add to the story a little more though. . .
We took our first drift or two and threw store bought baits and didn't really have a lot of action, so once we thought we missed our good fishing window we decided to spend some time tuning our baits. We floated over to Ben gave him a lure, and just like that he had a hit. Worm threw on camo carp threw it out a couple times and BOOM! FISH ON! <<<<><<< I was just blown away Ben was getting hits Jeremy was hooked up. All this happening about 15-20 yards from eachother. When those Musky so those baits they went nuts man it was AWESOME!
Ive really got the itch now. Hopefully the next design will be a Bigger, and Deeper bait for the real MONSTERS in those deep lakes and deep rivers. Maybe a BIG WILLY!
Heres to Musky!

Great job on the baits!!! Love the sucker and the carp!
Nice fish also.
Was hoping to make the meeting last night , but had some flooding issues to contend with.
Would love to hook up with you guys and talk plugs and may be fish.
I fish with a electric motor on my jon boat, and from a canoe mostly, still working on my big boat for the deep lakes.
And as always wading with the long stick.

Too bad you feel that way Todd. Truth be told..... I've never seen that lure before. So that would make it hard to copy. They do look alot alike. If you want to get picky, Our head is shorter and rounder, has a bigger belly, we have a round bill, ingraved gill plates and lateral line. Not to mention yours also seems alittle thicker (width wise). The tail I did learn from Sebski so, got us there. Just so you understand, we had a piece of paper, a pencil, a Rollie and Helens magazine and a bottle of "Yager". The magazine and Yager were for inspiration. Not a Sebskie & Todd lure. Well Worm was pretty nice about it so I'll try to be as well. I'll just get right to the point though, and that is. . . [[%&]]
First of all your baits are sweet, I would love to throw one if I owned one, but I don't and I never have. :'( I've been playing around with the design on those baits long before I saw yours. Not to mention the hundreds of manufactures that make baits real similar to both of ours. People do have similar ideas but thats all. I can read between the lines, and the fact of the matter is I didn't copy your bait. :-* I made the bait that I thought would work I assume you were thinking the same when you designed yours?

Nice lures guys! I was there when Twig and Worm were designing those things, no copying; just carving out something that might catch muskies.
There are a couple of great lure makers coming out of West Virginia and Western PA, I have a couple of them. With the popularity of musky fishing growing by leaps and bounds, it's good to see some great lures coming out of Eastern PA, and Sebastian proved that last year by leading the club on many of his own lures. Hopefully the popularity will grow in the future, great work guys! <<<<><<<

Has anybody ever tried using a wood burning tool on lures? I did last night on a LiL' Willy blank, it looks friggin' awesome! I'm just concerned that it will make the wood soft or brittle where it gets really dark. Or won't it even matter with a couple coats of clear?
Just trying to get some ideas. Thanks. LATER

Jeremy,
I would worry more about the smell of burnt wood/plastic. I'm not sure whether or not the smell would be covered with the clear coating. Another concern would be, dependent upon how deep the burns were, if the burns would effect the action of the lure. Or were you doing this simply for the look? Regardless, I'm sure the affect could add quite a look to the lure.

I had given that a thought, but do you think the smell of lacquer paint is stronger then of wood? The clear does cover up the smell of paint, that we know from all of the other manufactured lures. I guess trial and error method will work here. I'm using the burner just to get the colors I want, not going to deep at all. Where I want the lure to look black is pretty much what I'm concerned about being alittle weird. Just had a thought, I'll paint or stain the black spots and burn the rest. It really adds depth to the lure, I like it!! Just something alittle different. I'm sure someone beat me to it already. But I never saw one quiet like it. Thanks for the reply Dave. Any other thoughts or suggestions? LATER ON Worm
