Recently, I attended a seminar by Tony Grant regarding "downsizing" your baits in the spring. Soft plastics were a big part of that seminar, but he also mentioned Rattle baits. He clamis that's primarily what he uses in early spring. I personally have never used Rattles, but purchased a couple recently, and thought I'd give them a whirl. My question is has any of you ever used these baits with any success ? Are they mainly used in shallow conditions ? Any and all suggestions welcomed ...

I picked up some this year to try out and was out with a friend and he had a mid 30 inch fish come flying up boatside in 43 degree water.
That convinced me to pick up a few.
Here are a few I just painted up.
