hey guys, have really been getting into these lures everyones making and i was wondering what kind of wood to use thats easy to carve? also what does the wood do? sink? float? any ideas as to where i could purchase the wood to, hobby shops or such.

You could use a couple of types of wood, cedar, maple or basswood. Basswood is probable the easiest to carve. I've found basswood at
Arts and Craft sort of stores like Ac Moore and at Dick Blicks. Some hobby stores have it, but not to many carry the bigger and thicker size boards. I've recently been using "NationalBalsa.com". Great prices and cheap/fast shipping. And to answer your question, the wood floats.
