You are bidding on a set of custom Mighty Shad Muskie Baits in 3.5" Mini Shad "Golden Shiner" & 4.5" Shad in "Hot Tiger", & 6" Jointed Shad in "Black with Holo Silver"
These might be bass sized lures, but they are built heavy duty construction and meant to take muskie abuse! Wood construction, with coffin bill. Heavy duty hooks.
About Mighty Shad Muskie Baits:
My goal in creating Mighty Shad Muskie Baits is to showcase the unique lures I developed on Kinkaid Lake to significantly reduce the learning curve for new muskie enthusiasts and add more tool options for seasoned hunters as they pursue this elusive quarry. As a professional educator and former outdoor writer, I will address the technical aspects of this sport with original articles posted regularly.
Small Baits Offer Big Rewards:
Once I stopped bass fishing and started hunting muskies I adhered to the assumption that big fish must like big baits. This supposition on my part would lead to countless frustrating days on the water. Every evening at the launch I would talk to bass and crappie fishermen and hear about all of the muskies they saw, while I would tout the big bass I encountered. Somewhere in that time frame I encountered Cory Allen's articles about fishing smaller baits in southern waters. I don’t know why I didn’t put it together sooner but eventually everything clicked and I decided to change my approach. As the size of the lures I made decreased, I experienced a dramatic increase in success. Today my muskie arsenal is filled with baits that resemble bass lures on steroids – beefier bodies, heavier hardware and sealed with multiple coats of epoxy. The largest baits in my “multi-species” tackle box now measure all of 6 inches with the majority being significantly smaller. Some of the crankbaits I make currently are only a little over 3 inches long. In addition to moving fish, they are a lot easier on my joints to throw allowing more productive time on the water each trip. If your lake or river seems devoid of all life, tie on something small and brace yourself!
