Hello,
I want to try fishing for musky fishing for the first time this weekend at a local 300 acre lake in New Jersey. The lake has depths to about 30' and some weedbeds and scattered shoreline cover. Other than that, no real coves or creek arms to move up into. I would assume the water temperature is still in the 50's. Any suggestions where I should look for spring musky? Any techniques?
Since the lake is electric motors only, I planned to work my way around trolling jerkbaits and casting at likely looking areas. I must admit I know very little about the musky. One site suggested they might be spawning now and not the best time to fish for them. Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated.
I have two things going against me here....first I'm fishing a new lake and second I'm really trying a new species. Any assitance is welcomed. Thanks again.

Welcome to Muskie fishing!
BEWARE!!! Fishing for these brutes has led many a man to give up other hobbies, make bad budget decisions, let the grass go to seed and spend too much time discussing fish on the internet.
What is the name of this 300 acre NJ lake. It's almost certain that one or more members has fished it and can give specific advice including types of lures, etc.

Well put Archie.Phil,i posted a reply to your question on ch 22 board that was very similar to archies reply.Although very hard to catch,it seems to me most new comers fail to have to proper release tools when they actualy hook up with one of these fish.I've seen alot of fish die because of that. Please be prepared and the best of luck.Bob
