Here's a story of a good one. I have had my fair share of bad releases, but they don't get talked about as much.
Muskies are not always the easiest things to deal with at times. So, here's a release that went "good" on a really nice musky.
This past weekend, we were trolling and all of a sudden my buddy Jay's got a fish on! I cleared my line and grabbed the net. He turns the fish into the net and I scoop it up. Trying my best to get it in the
bottom of the frabil, the lure get's caught near the top. So, I drop the net to keep the fish
in the water. Then get the pliers and get a good angle on the hook, give it a good yank!, and
the fish comes free. It's in the net hook-free, we get the cameras ready and determine the spot for pics.
Jay reaches in, supports the fish, and a couple of pics. I wet the bump board, Jay lays the fish down and right back in the water.
We try for a release shot, but the fish is ready to go right away, she's gone.
I only wish it went that well all the time, what a nice musky! Nice fish Jay!
