I know some of you guys are new to this sport just alittle heads up . Some of the guy's fish more now than any other time of the year. This time of year can be very good for those that put there time on the water, But it can be very dangerous to , Water temps are close to 55 degrees and dropping. Falling in the water this time of year alone and your done. Wear your life jacket , Fish with a partner, be careful and catch big fish.

I'll jump on board this one too, as I do every year.
Anyone who's fished on my boat in cold weather has worn one of my inflatable PFDs. These inflatables are barely noticeable when worn over a coat or sweatshirt, and you can cast 10 hours in them without a problem.
One of the biggest problems in cooler weather is that your sweatshirt or coat (not to mention jeans and long underwear) will soak up 30 or 40 pounds of water within a few seconds of hitting the water. Try swimming for more than a few seconds holding on to a 30lb weight, it's almost impossible. Add to this the shock (takes your breath away) of hitting water that cold and you'll begin to understand how easy it is to drown in cold water/weather.
Get yourself a quality PFD and wear it anytime you get near the water (in cold weather, at the very least). I knew a very good fishing guide who went surf fishing and was found 3 days later, 6 miles from where the guy he was guiding last saw him.

I'm not trying to be smart but how do you know the inflatable PFD will inflate if/when needed?
I bought a pair of self inflating PFD's last season and wear it faithfully BUTsince I never jumped into the water to proove it will inflate and hold me up there is always the above question in the back of my mind.

Good question.
In today's litigious society, I don't imagine a company could afford to put a non-working on your back. You're safe because of lawyers, isn't that a kick in the ass!
