I live in Hanover (South Central PA). I caught Musky fever 2 years ago and started fishing for nothing but muskies last year. I can’t get musky fishing out of my head. I've had only 2 musky on but couldn’t get them in the boat (beginner mistakes).I’m looking for help or advise. Does anyone fish or know anything about Codorus State Park Lake? The lake is over 1,000 acres and is deep and very clear. I didn’t have any problem figuring out Bass or Walleye in this lake but the Muskies are kicking my but. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. It’s too late to turn back to Bass and walleye.

How familiar your plight sounds! We all have the same sickness, so welcome to the club.
I don't know anything about your lake but I just wanted to let you know we all share your misery. These fish are hard to catch, but we enjoy trying. The best advice is spend as much time on the water as possible. You've had success with a couple already so you must be doing something right. It also helps to have a quality net so that you can remove the hooks while the fish is still in the water. It is important for the fish to be as healthy as possible when it is released and we release ALL fish.
I'm sure other members will step up with info about your lake, so check back every few days.
Good luck!
Barry
We may only see what we look for.

Hey Mike,
Not that I have any more to add, than what Barry already told you, but I've got an Uncle Mike that lives there in Hanover by the last name of Rang. If you should know him, drag him out musky fishing sometime. lol
Seriously, its an aggravating and, on rare occasions for me, an extremely rewarding game fish. Hang in there, don't second guess yourself, too much, and you'll get into fish.

Hello,
Lake Marburg should start to produce some muskies in the coming years.Muskie stockings were just reinstated in the last 10 years, with about 650 stocked in 1996 and then there were a couple of years where there were 1275 stocked recently. This lake has probaly the greatest potential in southeastern Pennsylvania to produce 50 inch class fish.As this lake once produced a few 50's in the late 1970's and into the 80's until the musky stocking was dropped.I was told that it was decided to let the northern pike be the lone esocid in the lake because they were maintaining a low density pike population through natural reproduction. It was to my understanding that musky stockings weren't reinstated until 1996 after a bass fisherman casting a rattletrap in the bay by the one island landed a 51 inch 38 lb. muskie that was probaly a 12 to 14 year old fish from a 1982-84 stocking.
What this lake needs is advanced fingerlings at least 12 to 14 inches in length to help boost survival which would go a long way in establishing a ''fishable population" in this lake.
With the deep water up to 120 feet and a population of white and yellow perch, stocked trout as forage this lake could grow some big fish again.
