Hello all!
My name is Andy and I am new to the site. This year is my first year of fishing for musky. I have been fishing at least once a week all year thus far and haven't even seen a musky. I have thrown a ton of different lures my problem is I don't own a boat and don't have $$ for one either... 🙁 Everyone that knows me, now asks if i have caught a musky yet. Anywho I have tried to research a ton online and it seems that I don't really know where to go. I ask anyone that I see on the water if they have encountered one and of course a bunch have lol. I don't know if anyone on here would be willing to help me out but I really want to just see a musky at this point. I don't care if its 12 inches! I am from the york area but I have been willing to go wherever I can to get into one. Thanks in advance for the opportunity to ask these questions to people that may actually know!

I am so thankful that I found this forum! Actual responses are hard to come by!! So far I have hit codorus, redman, pinchot (actually paid 50$ to rent on and it was 4 of us and no one caught anything!) york haven dam, warm waters, conoduinget creek, and the second bridge entrance to 3 mile island. My problem is I don't exactly know what conditions are best for which areas and I don't know what to look for. As for bait I have multiple musky lures, inline bucktails, crankbaits etc. I have been trying to catch creek chubs lately so I can throw live bait but it doesn't help if I don't know where to go or what to look for or what conditions are good. It has been extremely frustrating because of throwing big stuff when I don't catch a musky I don't catch anything. So its been multiple trips with absolutely no fish. Hoping everyone can help me with that. Like I said I don't care if it's tiny I just want to know that they exist and that they're not made up at this point.... lol.

Forget the live bait. You need to cover water and use lures that do just that. Stick with the big bucktails for now. Its a good time of year for them. You can cover water fast with them. Try gold on gold bucktails. With like number 9 or 10 double blades. Stick with it and keep pounding away....... muskies will test your patiance to the max. Look for back eddies, creek mouths or bolders in the river. Their there even if they don't show themselves. Thats why its called muskie hunting, they don't come easy but when they do the reward is just even sweeter. Good luck hunting. Dutchy
ITS NOT THE SIZE OF YOUR BOAT
ITS THE SIZE OF WHATS ON YOUR BUMPBOARD!

Welcome to the board Andy! Sounds like you have musky fever and all of us at one point were in your shoes. As Dutchy points out, time on the water is key. I know its a haul for you but if you can, feel free to join us at our next meeting (9/4). Details are posted on the main site. At the end of each meeting we have a lure raffle and here you'll find some great baits. I'll be bringing plenty of bucktails for the meeting!
