It's all good Les. Important thing is to learn from the ones that got away. Some of these things I was taught by MI50 members and others I learned the hard way. Hope they help.
1) Was the hook set good?
2) Are you sharpening your hooks?
3) If you hooked it boat side with a short line, did you release the spool, keeping some thumb pressure on it and give the fish maybe 10 feet of line and hook it again? This often keeps the hooks from popping out
4) Did you try to turn the fish (bad) vs. lead it around the boat until you were in a good position to net it?
5) If the fish is trying to jump, bury your rod tip to keep it down like the BASS guys do. Remember this for the short boat side strikes as well.
