The general rule of thumb is: cold front means fish are deep and warm steady weather means they are shallow. The bait doesn't matter as much as figuring out where they are.
The thing I'm not sure of is where they are right now! Colder fall weather for a while, now all of a sudden a warm spell. Turn over hasn't quite occured yet and weeds are still in tact.
If you look at the statistics in Musky Magazine, there are a lot more miuskies caught in September than in October. So where is everyone having good musky action right now?
