I have been threatening to try Musky fishing for many years. I even bought a Musky rod many years ago and have never used it.
The rod is a Fenwick bait caster, I think it says IM6 Graphite but could say IM4 if there ever was such an animal (my eyes arn't what they were). Rod also says MCTC 70 MH 7'0", 3/4-2 1/2 oz. Lure 15-30 lb Line, Medium Heavy Action. For a guy that is use to medium action rods for small/large mouth bass, this rod feels like a broom stick. Any comments as to what type musky fishing this rod would be most suitable? Thanks in advance for your help. Pop

Hi,
That rod should work ok, I used a medium/heavy spinning rod for my first year musky fishing. You should be fine casting bucktails, small crankbaits, small or medium size plastics, and stuff like that. Probably don't want to be throwing the super mag bulldawgs with something rated to handle 2 1/2 oz...... 😉 otherwise, that sounds like a great musky rod. Good Fishing.
P.S. I agree with Matt about the reel and line, just don't forget a wire leader or at least 80# flouro.
