Hows it goin all. I got a chance to meet a couple of you guys at the Sportsmans expo at the Valley forge convention center. Ive been dying to catch a musky for about three years now but im afraid I don't know the first thing about it. Tom Sabia gave me some good lure tips but as far as Rods and reels go im in the dark. if you have ANY kind of info that would help me out I would really appreciate it. I do most of my fishing from the bank or a kayak in beltsville or the lehigh, but i live near Newtown square. so hopefully that helps. thanks!

Hello, you'll probably get a lot of differing opinions on musky rods/reels, but for starters I would suggest a medium size rod and abu garcia reel. In particular: a 7'6" cabelas fish eagle 2 musky rod and an Abu Garcia bait casting reel 6600. That should work. Also, I'd suggest 80 lb. power pro line and 130# Stealth Tackle flouro carbon leaders. The thing about musky gear, it's not cheap! (Actually that setup I described is fairly cheap)
Again, it's all up to ones personal preference, but that would be my advice. Best of luck chasing muskies, they are awesome creatures and a lot of fun, but once you catch one you are hooked for life!!

Fatfree, are you familiar with baitcasting reels. 80# power pro is a very costly birdsnest. Just wondering. I live in Glen mills. Monster muskies in the Springton Reservoir. Can't fish for them anymore.
Do they still stock it? If not, they are long gone I am afraid. There used to be some giant tigers in there.
