I will be staying at appalachian campsites in shartlesville just off exit 23 on rt. 78 for next year.. my question is How long of a ride is it to the lake if I backtrack to exit 49 and pick up rt. 100 and go south to the lake.. I have other direction from the campgrounds going to the pa pike to get there.. it says about 1 hour. any help would be great.. After going out with Mr. Jones in the spring at one of your Musky schools, I got hooked. I joined musky inc. and I am looking at joining ch. 22 which is in my area on NJ where I live...
I have a 20 foot boat I fish from, but it is also set up with a trolling motor.. Would I have a problem with launching there. or would I have to find a partner with a smaller boat.
Thanks

JC, Backtracking to 100 would be the easiest for you. You have to watch what time you leave in the mornings 100's traffic can get pretty crazy. All you have to do is go 100 south for about an hour and make a right onto Park Road, it's after the Conastoga intersection. Make your right and then just follow untill you see the lake and a parking lot with the Boat Rentals, go straight into the parking lot and the launch is at the end. During rough traffic times the PA TurnPike might be a better choice. If your going to be out at Shartlesville you might want to try fishing the Schuylkill River by Cabela's!!! Just a thought. Good Luck Jeremy

If your on 78 heading west, the bridge you go over before Cabelas, that's the river. You definetly can not launch that big of a boat on it.
It's to shallow, shore fish it or from a canoe or a john boat. There are some nice tigers in there. It's not electric only but like I said it's shallow, got to be familiar with the water to take a little gas job on it. Good Luck and keep posting those questions when they come upl
