Gentlemen - I enjoyed sitting in on your chapter meeting Tuesday night. A question came up concerning the need for a trout stamp when fishing New Jersey waters. The answer to this question is.... NO!!! NOT REQUIRED FOR STOCKED OR NON-STOCKED TROUT WATERS!!!! IF YOU ARE DRIFTING LIVE TROUT MAKE SURE YOU CARRY THE RECEIPT FROM THE BAIT STORE WHERE THEY WERE PURCHASED!!!! THE RECEIPT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN A TROUT STAMP IF YOU ARE DRIFTING LIVE TROUT ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE UNDER THE LEGAL SIZE LIMIT!!!!
If you are stop by Fish and Wildlife here in New Jersey be polite and work with them. If you're a smart ass the smallest infraction won't be over looked... instead it will earn you a ticket.
Protect our waters and our fishery. I suggest that you program the following number into your cell phones: 877 - WARNDEP (877-927-6337). This is the phone number for Trenton Dispatch. If you see the rules of the game being violated call. Report where you are and what you see. Without confrontation record any info that will help Fish and Wildlife (boat #, license plate, etc.). Trenton will dispatch the nearest officer to investigate.
If you are interested in having an officer do a presentation at one of your chapter meetings let me know and I will provide some contact info.
Hope to sit in on your next meeting...and look forward to seeing you boys on the water this Sunday.
